"I find myself incredibly fascinating and this blog bears witness to that simple fact. Friends, from far and wide, are often pestered to keep abreast of my life and opinions. I offer sincere greetings to guests who stumble here by accident too."

New Tricks
I have received notice that I will pick up a BCIT class to teach from November 3rd to December 5th. Originally, I'd figured on getting my usual COMM 004 level with International students, but that particular schedule was cancelled.
I will, instead, teach a COMM 003. It's an intensive course so we'll have eighty-four class hours packed into a month! Yet, maybe it is time for me to try something different; after all, I've been teaching COMM 004 for six years! I guess ... I look forward to the change.

The Taj
Today's photo is included just to change topics. Jay and I spent the summer of 1994 travelling around India. Here we are in front of the Taj Mahal.

Asimov at the Theatre
In July 2004 the movie I, Robot will be released. It will feature Will Smith as Detective Del Spooner. In the middle of this summer, I took this from the third level of the downtown parkade. This location will be used right at the beginning of the film as this represents the neighbourhood where the detective lives.
The area is really New Westminster's Front Street and usually known as "Antique Alley" because it has a number of those shops. It is about a block from this apartment.

Hollywood North
Vancouver is a well known spot for movie making and the production of many U.S. television programs. Additionally, New Westminster grabs a slice of that industry.
Most people -- when thinking of Canada -- think snow. Some would be surprised to know that in the BC's Lower Mainland it is very rare to have snow on the ground. During some winters a dusting or more can occur but seldom does anything stay on the ground for more than a day.
However, thanks to Hollywood magic, the scene below appears blanketed. Well, in a way, it was. These houses are a few blocks from where I live; however, the blanket wasn't frozen precipitation. Thanks to a hardworking crew of movie people, the apparent snow in this scene fell on these few abodes only!

Jay's brother called Vancouver to tell him that his mom passed away last night.
Warehouse Shopping
I just returned from the closest Home Depot. It's just across the river; in fact, if I stood on a chair I could probably see it from my balcony.
I needed to buy fluorescent lights for the kitchen. I think I did a very good job of running to the lighting section and then to check out.
You see, I could easily spend the better part of a morning just wandering around the aisles gazing at stuff. In North America big is sometimes prized. Home Depot always fits that bill with shelves stuffed to the sky-high rafters. Who's buying all that merchandise? How can they have so many stores in one area?

River Crossing

Here's a wrap up to the present topic. This is the Skytrain Bridge which spans the Fraser River in New Westminster. The Expo Line runs to Surrey and crosses on this purpose-built bridge. You will note the train running beneath the closest arch.
