"I find myself incredibly fascinating and this blog bears witness to that simple fact. Friends, from far and wide, are often pestered to keep abreast of my life and opinions. I offer sincere greetings to guests who stumble here by accident too."

Blog entries from September 1st to October 9th are online now. We were in Sri Lanka at the time. I've got more to complete but here's a link to the week which I typed in yesterday:
October 9 <--- October 3.
I thought you may enjoy reading about a very recent trip to Lanka from a very different perspective. I discovered the blog quite by accident at: rAves N rAnts.

The House Always Wins
Was our last trip to Vegas really two years ago this month? Hell, we've yet to go to River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond which is just a hop and a skip away. Oh, I should admit that I gambled just $2 worth of nickels the last time in Las Vegas; you see, I go for the buffets!

They're finally in Canada and practically in my neighbourhood!
Best Buy Canada
I haven't been over to Queensborough to check them out yet. Today, I will have the time to do so though.

Full Cage
During our time away, only a few weeks after our departure, ... the hamster mentioned numerous times in this blog, died. We had convinced friends to look after him while we were away but had not given directions about what to do in case of its demise. We still feel sorry that we put them through such trouble! Hamster3 had made it past the 2-year mark and in hamster terms that's old age.
We held off looking for a replacement after arriving back. Maybe it wasn't fair to keep an animal when we so often take vacations. As they don't live too long, it can be sad it is to have to say goodbye so often. Still the empty cage was there. I found myself often glancing that way when walking into the room.
Then, through a stroke of good luck, we learned through friends, that there was a hamster needing adoption. Lit'l Buddy would need to find a home. Now, we've had more than four days of getting to know the new pet. He's already become a cherished part of the daily routine. Here's a photo:

Time and Tide
There may be times when a class I'm teaching seems to drag. This does not occur very often, mind you. Yesterday's class was a busy one. We had student oral presentations and a writing assignment as well as work in our modules. At one point, I thought that things seemed to be at a bit of a standstill. I wondered why I had not selected enough materials for the allotted time.
Finally, one group of students asked if we were going to do the writing assignment. I was puzzled and said that we would. They continued by telling that it was time to begin.
With no prior warning, my watch had stopped running at exactly 3:15 pm. It was actually 4:15 pm.

There aren't many reality TV series which I'd waste my time watching. However, this is already big race number 6 and it starts right now! I'm so looking forward to seeing more airports terminals and bitchy people, yeah!

Trouble 'Opening Up'
Question:
I used to be able to hit on my saved images and they'd open in AC/DC automatically. Now they don't. How do I set my AC/DC graphics program as the default to open images?
Answer:
All file types are "registered to" a particular program on your computer. This registration process occurs whenever you install a new program. The extension helps the operating system automatically open a selected file within an appropriate software program. It does this by recognizing the part of the file name which comes after the dot. An MS Word document always ends with .DOC as an example. To alter the program currently associated with a particular type of file, you'll have to do the following:
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Go to TOOLS -- >FOLDER OPTIONS.
3. Click FILE TYPES and the association listing will slowly load.
4. Scroll down to the .JPG and .JPEG extensions and you'll see the current program listed.
5. Change by clicking BROWSE and replace with the one which you wish to create the association ... in your case, AC/DC.

Population-Density Burger Algorithm
Hardly anyone admits to eating fast food nowadays. However, as I've not seen many restaurants going belly up, apparently folks are still making sufficient purchases at them. When trying to think of a simple way to determine the urbanization of an area, I think I've hit upon the Fast-Food Proximity Quotient. With sufficient data, I'm sure I could correlate North American population statistics to the answer to the following question:
How many McDonald's are within 5 miles of your home?
If you'd care to take the time to answer, I'll get right to work on the algorithm. Perhaps we could also factor in an added percentage for each Burger King and calculate each Wendy's with greater weight.

Hail, Gentlemen
Thanks for coming over last evening. Now, we feel officially welcomed home.
Thanks so much for bringing Lit'l Buddy (H4) too; we're getting to know our new, rodent friend. Finally, thanks for putting up with all with the pictures and video.
