"I find myself incredibly fascinating and this blog bears witness to that simple fact. Friends, from far and wide, are often pestered to keep abreast of my life and opinions. I offer sincere greetings to guests who stumble here by accident too."

Canadian Live Music for Charity
CTV.ca | One World: The Concert For Tsunami Relief
It'd have been fun to be downtown tonight. We never go to concerts! Four hours of commercial-free TV is nice though. Where was Celine? No one can pry her away from her lucrative Las Vegas show, I guess.

Even with Pics, Memories Fade
I really wish all photo finishers would stamp the date on the backs of the pictures they develop.
Today, went to a drawer to find a photograph to scan. I would swear this one was from April 2002 when we took CirclePac tickets for a BC Ferries trip and visited the Island and Sunshine Coast. I can remember the kind lady who politely took a picture of Jay and me.

There are still some things I don't recall. I got my digital camera in February of that year and this trip would've been in April. Did we take along a film camera too? Is this Comox, or was this from another trip?

Amazing Race 6 - Sri Lanka
I've seen a few visitors come because the words, Amazing Race and Sri Lanka occurred on a previous, weekly page here. The most recent episode of Race 6 did take place in Sri Lanka. In fact, contestants visited Kandy and Sigiriya Rock. A two month trip of blog entries to Lanka are here for the months of September and October 2004. Also, below you can find some photos I put on Webshots.

Recently, I seem to be on a stuck on reel topics. (Is it a movie pun?)
I had missed Spider-Man 2 at the theatre. Last evening, I'm sure my neighbours must've known I watched the DVD. I will have to apologize and try to explain that some movies require the subwoofer be cranked.
Computer graphics can certainly create stunning effects. Just to keep myself grounded, I borrowed Clash of the Titans from the library today. I have to keep an appreciation for 'old skool' too.

I Say 'Poe-TAY-tow'.
If one is what one eats and one is what one reads, then one must surely be whatever one watches.
What does all this make me? A fat and happy couch potato, I guess.
It's membership in two online, Netflix-type companies that fills the tray in our DVD player. Right at the moment, we have subscriptions to VHQ online and Zip Canada. Let's review them.
We're quite satisfied with the first company, as delivery is fast from the neighbouring city of Coquitlam, BC. Their customer service is efficient and the movie selection is adequate. These guys were a good replacement for DVDFlix.
After previous delivery problems, we re-joined Zip as they have, by far, the widest selection of titles. Although much improved, unfortunately, delivery still takes too long because they're in Ottawa. To be fair, I guess Canada Post must shoulder the bulk of responsibility for delays. Unlike their US counterparts, postal employees in Canada barely work a five day week.
P.S. - Oh, and the answer to yesterday's movie question can be viewed here.

Being Centered
I love this movie. Although it's exactly my age, it must've often shown on TV when I was a kid. I am so thankful for DVD technology and the fact so much old stock now shines brightly in original, movie-threatre format. Many old films have been remixed to take advantage of Dolby Digital 5.1 too.
Can you guess which movie this scene is from? A group of four men, a woman, and a goose are in a gigantic-mushroom forest. Look closely and you will spot the face of a dinosaur-sized lizard lurking in a back cave. After not too long, the humans take a saucer to the surface. I'll post the answer tomorrow . . .

I had a bit of extra time yesterday because my BCIT class was cancelled. One of the places I visited was the public library. New Westminster boasts of having had the very first library in British Columbia. Nowdays, it seems to always be quite busy. Even if it's closed; however, I can use the Internet to check the online catalogue and reserve a book, CD, or DVD.
The last time I included an entry with a photo of the building was last June.

Clever Promotion
There are all sorts of tricks that can help to drive guests to a blog. Some I avoid. Yet, I find that Google and MSN Search keep pretty accurate tabs on my site. This accounts for many strangers who visit.
And I discovered, quite by accident, another way to increase traffic. Last week, I blogged a list of ex-colleagues and . . . voila . . . a fair number showed up because they had googled themselves!
So, here is another list. These are people who graduated with me from high school in Sunapee, New Hampshire. It's true; there aren't many names because my town was very small. This little list is the whole kit and kaboodle. I copied all names from a reunion planning document mentioned in last Saturday's eJournal entry.

I'll Try to Smile
The unused equipment was just sitting here doing nothing. It took only minutes to set up. So, now through the glories of science and six-year old technology, you can witness an exciting, new web page.

Class,
Today is Sunday, and it appears as though we WILL NOT have class
tomorrow. Therefore, on Wednesday we will follow the schedule of the
day that we missed.
Please start to think about how we will make up the three hours of lost
time. I would much rather meet on just one extra day than try to add
minutes to various classes. That can be too tiring.
I am able to meet with you any day of the week and either in the mornings
or afternoons. Please let me know your suggestions by email and when we
have our next class.
I hope you enjoy your unexpected, long weekend.
