"I find myself incredibly fascinating and this blog bears witness to that simple fact. Friends, from far and wide, are often pestered to keep abreast of my life and opinions. I offer sincere greetings to guests who stumble here by accident too."

About a Year Late
I recently put a 135-picture set from September's Eurotrip on the Flickr website. It is really a wonderful way to share photos. In fact, I decided to go back a bit. Yesterday, I also completed putting up selected pictures from our Sri Lankan trip in 2004. It ended at nearly this exact time a year ago.

Click this picture of a Buddhist temple which is near Jay's house in Minuwangoda. You will directly taken to 300 photos on Flickr. (If you are designated as 'friend' on my account, then you'll be able to see an additional 20 photos that include more of Jay's family members and relatives.)

1987's Vacation in Italy
Blog entries don't really have to follow a topic to completion. Sometimes, I use them as a means to work on documenting life. So, here's a bit of history. The inclusion today stems from two factors: I've been talking about last month's European trip for days and days; furthermore, I have a whole suitcase of photos and memorabilia to eventually chronicle. Here's an article I sent to the Argus-Champion. It was a little, weekly newspaper published in the neighbhouring town of my youth in New Hampshire. The good thing about this small town newspaper was they were always looking for filler. Here's a PDF copy of my filler that recounts a previous trip to Europe. It was my first time in Italy in 1987. (Click the screenshot to load a new browser window for the PDF file.)

The Next Tube Might Not Be
I keep a record of highlights from each month. It's an MS Word file called mylife.doc and although I often forget to update, it's been among My Documents for many, many years. I just went to add last month's trip to Europe. While there, I found that I bought our present TV in October of 1993.The old Hitachi has survived twelve years and moves to four different apartments. It also made the journey from Dubai to New Westminster by ship. It still keeps on ticking as strongly as the Eveready bunny. I'd be nearly impossible to recount the hours of the movies and programming (in both PAL and NTSC) that've flickered across its screen.
I know it's time to buy something else. It's just that by holding off, the options keep improving and decreasing in price. For decades televisions remained essentially the same; however, now there's LCD, DLP, and Plasma models to choose from. Maybe it's time to actually take the plunge and go shopping. Well, I'll be sure to do so before another dozen years are up.

Who Says Length Doesn't Matter
Today is wet and gloomy. It's also very dark this morning. This is the downside to living away from the equator. The days are going to continue getting shorter for another two months! We've got that little reprieve at the end of the month when we play around with the clocks. From 2007, the US is going to lengthen Daylight Savings Time by another four weeks a year. It will be observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Canada won't have much choice other than to go along. The justification is to save energy. However, I anticipate a big brouhaha about reinstating the present number of weeks after a few kids get mowed over while waiting for their school busses in the morning darkness.
Okay, who remembers HOT DOTS?

Less Than Six Months Ago?
I don't know how this photo was skipped in my uploads to Flickr on the first go around. Sometimes, I worry that there are a great many places in the world to which I want to visit but not enough years of life to reach them all.

We did a fair job this year making it to NYC, London, and Paris. We also saw Frankfurt, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Oh, and I mustn't forget July's trip to Portland, OR. It's surely a world city too!

i cant txt msg 2 fast
My phone was pretty old and bulky. In fact, if you try an image search on Google for old cell phone you'll come up with a picture of my Nokia (and a company site which copied the photo without permission).

Back when I got it, Fido was a cool phone company. All these years later, Virgin Mobile is the cool phone company.
Cell phones surely have become sexier. My new number should be in the sidebar to the right.

City Hall's New Colour Scheme
I walked uptown yesterday as it turned out to be a beautiful day. I love the blue sky in digital pictures. Click this photo of the New Westminster City Hall, to see some of yesterday's pictures that I uploaded to Flickr. Make sure to click the thumbnails that you see there too.
