"I feel I'm incredibly fascinating and this blog bears witness to that simple fact. Friends, from far and wide, are often pestered to keep abreast of my life and opinions. I offer my most sincere greetings to random visitors as well."

Live from the Grand Canyon
Come back to this entry on the 11th of the month. In just five short days, we should be looking into the abyss firsthand but hopefully not head first. If we see the webcam, we'll wave ...

Here's a tiny, saved example, in case you venture here when it's night.

The Eyes Have It
Although it was more than two weeks ago when we were in Puerto Vallarta, it's still possible to try to check in via this web cam image below. This picture should be less than ten seconds old. I found access to it at www.puertovallarta.net. The cam's image, of course, will not show much if you check this page during hours that don't match up well to Central Time in the Americas. If you tune in too late, I shall include a smaller, static example to the right.
In the late 1990's I had one set up on the balcony with an old Sony camcorder. It used to look down the Fraser River towards the New Westminster Quay and the Alex Fraser Bridge.

Where All the Lights are Bright
What an exciting weekend! As it's BC Day tomorrow, many people are free for a three-day weekend. The weather forecast looks perfect. Although the ferries over to the island have probably been busy, there's a lot going on around here. Last night we headed to downtown Vancouver for the finale of the HBC Celebration of Light along with an estimated 400,000 others.
This morning is the annual Vancouver Pride Parade. The webcam below will probably be pointed to English Bay but I'm not sure if you'll see any activity on the right-side of False Creek. This camera updates around every five minutes. Please click the photo below to load the page of Kat Kam and see it in all its 1024 X 768 splendor.

A Boxing-Day Queue?
In Canada, today is Boxing Day. It's the ultimate, post-Christmas, sales extravaganza. So successful in fact, it has changed people's gift-buying habits. Many Canadians hold off their purchases until the sales start.
However, due to the fact there's nothing that we really want that we haven't already purchased, we will not be waiting in queue for a store to open. Rather, we've decided to take a trip over to the Island.
We should be onboard the 10:00 Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay run. For a bit more adventure, we're not driving over this time. For the first time, we will discover if it's easy to connect up using public transit. If you happen by this blog before our departure time, you'll be able to see how many vehicles are waiting in this live webcam. (Just reload your screen to update.)
We'll stay for one night and should be back by Tuesday evening. Perhaps, I'll leave my notebook computer at home this time. I can write the entry for that day after we get back.

Vancouver Harbour Cam
In the early days of webcams, I had one. As soon as I got broadband in 1997, I took an old Sony Camcorder and parked it on the balcony. It served up Internet photos through all sorts of weather and finally kicked the bucket in 2000. Perhaps I should consider getting a webcam back in operation someday.
