I wish to continue instructional contract work where I can make use
of my extensive English-language teaching experience in business and
technology. I love facilitating the learning process. I continually
strive for ways to use new technology in meaningful ways to enhance training.
Here's my main Canadian training experience and a few notes.
British Columbia Institute of Technology International Studies, 3700 Willingdon Avenue,
Burnaby, B.C. V5G 3H2 CANADA 9/97 to the present
Present Work: Teaching language skills in BCIT's
PELD (Professional English Language Development) Program. Working with international and immigrant
students. (Please,
take a moment to read a few of the older
practice writings for the Internet.)
Developing students' pre-technical language skills necessary for
their admission and success in the programs at the institute.
With colleagues, participating in meetings and developing new instructional materials for students who are learning English
as an Additional Language.
Pitman Business College
688 - 690 West Hastings Street
Vancouver, B.C. V6B 1P1 CANADA 11/96 to 7/97
Past Project: Developed, maintained, and
taught a course entitled,
English Conversation for Business.
Designed for ESL
students, the specialized outline emphasized
oral English competency as required in a North American
business setting. Discussion questions formed the basis for
classes, which included authentic readings from newspapers
and periodicals. After completion, the students were
prepared for enrollment in regular courses at the college.

A Special Note
I am keenly interested in
the educational aspects of personal computers. I have matured
with PC technology over the last twenty years. We have moved from 360K floppies
to 400 gigabyte hard drives, from basic ANSI to browser-based apps. We've continually upgraded
from DOS 2.0 to Windows Vista, and from Hercules B&W to
dazzling wide-screen colour LCDs. More than
ever, computers help us to play, work, swap, and communicate. Most importantly, PC's have
done a great deal to make the world a smaller yet smarter place.
