BCIT COMM 0004
Supplemental Writing Practice

BCIT offers a limited number of international students the opportunity to participate in some special Business programs. The standard COMM 0004 course is a prerequisite for those students who do not have a passing English mark from a high school in British Columbia.

My name is Dennis Hurd and I was the instructor of one section. Our class entitled, Technical Communication for Second Language Students, took place in NE406 at BCIT's Burnaby Campus. The ten-week course started in early September and ended in the middle of November 2000.

We completed various writing tasks during the course. We created tables, classification trees, and used other pre-writing strategies. Twelve, formal writing assignments covered many different topics and included work on descriptions, comparisions, justifications, and instructions.

The writing assignments contained on this site were submitted on computer diskette and the files were pasted directly here. We discussed the importance of knowing your audience when writing. In this case, you are our audience!
