Problems for International Students

I am an international student at BCIT now. I have been here for six months as international student and a fresh man in Canada. There are many problems for me to study in Canada. I would like to share my solution of those problems with the people who want to study in Canada.

I classified the problems into three types such as homesick, ability of language, and adaptability of environment. Homesick is usual problem for international students. Because of homesick, I can’t sleep well and have unstable emotion. Finally, I get through it by talking with my friends, teachers. When you are sad, it is better to talk with others. Don’t just keep the unhappiness in your mind. At first, my English was not good enough to make a conversation so I not only went the ESL class, but I also read lots of articles to improve my English skills. I used to practice English with my friends, then we can help each other about the environment, I was so afraid of it. I thought I couldn’t adapt to the climate, customs, life habit, and school style. People here say that they enjoy their life, but I think it is not for an international student like me. It is quite hard to get used to the all new environment. However, since Canada is a mixed-culture country, It is not a big deal for me to work the problems out.

In my opinion, friends play the important role in my life. I recommend that you had better to find the friends who are good for you and available to help you.
