There are mainly two transportation to travel between Tokyo and Osaka which are the biggest cities in Japan. One is an airline. The other is Shinkansen train which is the fastest train in Japan (may be in the world too). Many businessmen and tourists travel between Tokyo and Osaka everyday. They always have to consider which Shinkansen or an airline is the best way for them to travel. I would like to explain the difference between them.

The cost of the train and an airline is almost the same. Both of them cost us approximately $150. However, these days many airline companies began to sell discounted tickets while the train company doesn't discount the fare of tickets.

Traveling by the train is more convenient than by an airline to go to the center of each city. The train stations are located in the center of both cities. Also, each station is connected with many local lines. On the other hand, airport of each city is located a little farther from the cities. Therefore, we have to take a bus, a taxi, or a train to get to the cities after we get off the airplane.

Traveling by an airline is faster than by the train. It takes about one hour to travel from Tokyo to Osaka by an airline, while it takes two and a half-hours by train.

I think both of them are safe. The rate of accidents is very low. However, if an accident happens, it's sure that many people injured or die. Therefore, both companies care of the safety of passengers very much as their priority.

The train can correspond to an emergency easier than an airline. For example, if one of the passengers become sick on the train, the train can be stopped at the nearest station and let him or her be attended to by emergency personnel. On the other hand, if someone become sick on the airplane, the captain has to find an airport to land the airplane and land it. It takes much time.

We can see a very good view from the window of the train. Especially, the view of Fuji Mountain is wonderful. However, we can see only sky or cloud from the window of the airplane.

As I have showed, both of the train and the airline have advantages and disadvantages. We should decide the way due to our purpose. However, if you come to Japan and want to enjoy the travel, I recommend you to travel by the train. The view from the train is very very nice!
