On the first winter vacation after I came to Canada, I went to Whistler
Mountain to go skiing with my family. We lived in a hotel for 5 days over
there, and everything was great. On the last day of our skiing trip, a
horrible thing happened.
That "thing" happened after we planned to go back to our hotel to pack
up for our trip home. On the way down from the ski slope, I fell down on
the snow and dislocated my shoulder. That was the most painful time
in my life. Right after I fell down, I knew that my shoulder was not in
the right position. The pain made me feel like a huge rock had crashed
on my shoulder. I also could not stand up. I yelled at my brother who
was skiing behind me. I decided to lay down and relax for a few
minuets. The only thing that appeared in my mind was to wait for my
brother to come, but my brother skied right past me. After I decided to
lay down to relax, I thought that the end of the world had arrived.
I tried to stand up, but the pain was still there. I started to search for
my skis, which slid away when I fell down. Then, I put on the skies
and held onto the poles to try to ski down the slope. On the way
down I saw two people who wore red and yellow jackets. They
had a snowmobile beside them. They were the rescue team on Whistler
Mountain. I started to think about if I should ask them for help. I decided to
go past them without asking them for help. I went past them, but they
yelled at me. I was very surprised that they yelled at me, and then they
came toward me. Actually, they told me that my goggles had dropped
on the ground. Then, one of the guys helped me to pick them up and
gave them back to me. I said "thank you" to them, left them and skied
down to the bottom of the mountain. Finally, I found my brother at the
place where you return your skis and poles. We asked for help and
they sent us to the hospital right after we finished returning the skis
and poles.
Skiing is the most exciting sport I have ever done, but it is
dangerous. I still love skiing much more then other sports, although
it is an expensive sport. I will still go skiing, because I love it.
