Mt. Hua

In Shannxi Province, my hometown, there is Mt. Hua, which is one of the most famous mountains in China.

Best known for its precipitous and beauty, Mt. Hua is acclaimed as the number one mountain throughout China for its perils.

Mt. Hua is composed of five main parts: the north, south, west, east and the middle peaks. The five main peaks are surrounded by another 70 small peaks. The whole sight looks like a branch of flower petals. In Chinese, flowers is pronounced 'huaĦ' so came the name of Mt. Hua.

From the ancient to the present, there have been a lot of fairy tales about the form of Mt. Hua. The well-known fairy tale is about a boy and his mother. The Mother used to be a celestial girl. She fell in love with a man on the earth and gave birth to a baby boy. When the boy was seven years old, the Mother was seized by her elder brother and pressed at the bottom of a very huge stone for punishment. After the boy grew up, he cleaved the stone and saved his mother. The split stone formed Mt. Hua.

Mt. Hua has an attractive scene, Bloom in the spring, flying waterfall in the summer, red leaves in the fall, and covered-snow in the winter. The changeable weather makes Mt. Hua sometime in clouds, sometime in the rain or sometime in snow. These make Mt. Hua look like a fairyland.

Mt. Hua is also a famous tourism mountain. From Qin Dynasty to Ming Dynasty, lots of emperors came there to offer sacrifices. Jin Tian place and Zhen Yue place were issued the important Taoism place of China. Every year, thousands of tourists all over the world come to Mt. Hua. If you have a chance to visit China, don't forget go to Mt. Hua.
