This is the first time that I lived and studied in a foreign country leaving
my parents . Before I came here ,I was a little bit scared . I wondered whether
I could get used to the life in Vancouver. After I arrived ,and the more I
stayed here, the better I liked it here. I will tell you the four reasons.
First ,I was surprised by the people in Vancouver . They are very
welcoming and warm-hearted to the people from the other countries. They
offer help when someone has trouble. I met the Canadian family two months
ago when I had trouble finding a new place to live .They asked their
neighbours ,their friends and their relatives to see whether there was a
room to rent .Finally ,I moved to their friend's house .
Second, many cultures attracted my attention .There are many people
from different countries with distinct customs .From Vancouver , you
can get to know the whole world . I can say it is an international city. People
have different religions in Vancouver ,such as Buddhism, Christian and
Catholic, but they respect each other. Also ,you will seldom find the
phenomenon of ethnic discrimination ,and this is very crucial factor to
live and contribute to this city .
Third, the weather in Vancouver is wonderful. My home city, Dalian in
China ,is a seaport and it is surrounded by the sea in three directions.
There weather there is neither cold nor hot. Before I came, I worried that
I couldn't get accustomed to the climate. I am so happy now because it
is even better than in Dalian . I especially enjoy the sunshine and the
fresh air here .
Last, I like studying at BCIT . Although it is a college, I can learn the
practical skills that will benefit me a lot in the future. The teachers care
about not only our studies but also our daily life. They are students'
best friends ,especially for the international students. Generally, I have
chosen one of the world's best cities to study an live in. I'm proud of
Vancouver .
