BCIT COMM 0004
Demonstrating Course Skills

A limited number of international students take the opportunity to participate in special Business / Management programs at BCIT. The standard COMM 0004 and COMM 0005 courses are a prerequisite for those students who do not have a passing English mark from British Columbian high school.

I'm Dennis Hurd and recently taught this interesting section of students. Our class entitled, Technical Communication for Second Language Students, took place in NE406 at the Burnaby Campus. The classes started in early May and ended on August 9, 2002 after fourteen weeks!

We completed various writing tasks during the course. We created tables, classification trees, and used other pre-writing strategies. Twelve, formal writing assignments covered many different topics and included work on descriptions, comparisions, cause & effect, and instructions.

The writing assignments contained on this site were submitted on computer diskette. The exact information contained on the disk was used here on the web site. Thank you for taking the time to look at some of the ideas.
