Today globalization and freedom of trade is accelerating, and international cooperation is intensifying. International capital is also actively seeking new investment places. Compared to the past, China has quickened its step in the course of opening to the outside world; moreover, China has joined the WTO. This change has led to many foreign businesses being interested in investing in China. However, most of them are not very familiar with China’s marketing environment. Therefore, the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT for short) is held from September 8th to 12th every year in Xiamen city, China. Fortunately, I took part in the 5th CIFIT as a volunteer and helped the Organizing Committee of the CIFIT in 2001. When staying at the CIFIT, I felt energic and obtained much information about the CIFIT .As a result, I’m pleased to share this information including the organizer, position, purpose, and the development trend with you.

First, the CIFIT is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the People’s Republic of China and hosted by Fujian provincial government and the Xiamen municipal government. All of China’s provinces, autonomous regions, and relevant ministries participate in the fair as member units. It has had four successful conferences from 1997.

Next, the CIFIT is the only international investment promotion event of a ration-wide scale in China. So many enterprises participate in CIFIT in order to seek investors from all parts of the world. During the CIFIT, the “International Investment Forum” is also held. It’s China’s most authoritative conference. It introduces the china’s strategies about foreign investment by the prime minister of China. Many ministries from all parts of the world are invited to attend this conference, so it’s also an important site for getting information on the international new and hot places for investment.

Lastly, I’d like to talk about the development trends of the CIFIT. As the world enters the new century, the CIFIT will continue to provide better service at present areas in order to push investment and co-operation towards two-way direction and diversified development. As a conclusion, I hope many foreign countries know more about China’s economic environment by engaging in the CIFIT and all the countries will develop together.
