Nowadays, Mp3 files are becoming very popular. I think there are three main reasons why people like to download the Mp3’s rather than buy CDs and four effects which might happen. Now, I’m going to divide those causes and effects into two paragraphs.
People like to download Mp3’s because they are convenient and cheap. People can also test the music to decide if they like it or not. First of all, Mp3’s are downloadable music from the Internet. They are very convenient for people. Few people want to use stamps to send their mail after e-mail became very popular; similarly, people enjoy the convenience of Mp3’s. Now, people don’t need to shop in CD stores. The only thing that people have to do is logon to the Internet and they can download any song they like. Second, downloading Mp3’s is much cheaper than buying CDs. A CD may cost at least 20 dollars; in contrast, people only need to spent 5 dollars per month to register on a website to download music. Next, people might feel its not worth it to buy a CD if they only want listen to few songs on it. Customers also may want to try a CD before they buy it. If Mp3’s replace CDs, there are four effects which might happen. Firstly, all businesses that are involved in music may lose lots of money as nobody buys the CDs. This includes music retailers, industries and artists. Secondly, unemployment may be another serious problem if this happens. A company will reduce its employees when the company doesn’t have profit to break even and the company may even go out of business. This would be a very serious problem for society. Furthermore, governments cannot get taxes from all the music business companies. As result of this, it may affect countries’ economy and the country might become poorer. I believe music has really big influence on everyone; in addition, the way that we choose to listen the music also affects our lives.
