Nowadays, marijuana use has become widespread in
Canada. More and more people smoke it. Over two million people have
smoked it within last year. I can see people buy it on the street,
friends smoke it at home and it is everywhere in Canada. I think
marijuana should be legal in Canada.
First of all, marijuana is not as bad as other drugs. People can not
quit of taking off but can quit smoking marijuana. My friends smoke when
they have money and are feeling bored. They do not smoke it very often
though. Marijuana has been proven to be less harmful than cigarettes
which contain dour times the tar. From the chart below people can see,
it shows the rates of teenagers smoke cigarette and marijuana in Canada.
People can see 7% teen smoke cigarette, but 28% of teen smoke marijuana.
The cigarette is legal in Canada, so I think marijuana should be legal
too.
Second, smoking marijuana can’t cause a lot of
damage. People who smoke marijuana just want to relax. After smoking
people usually stay in some places and relax. I have seen my friend and
he looked just like usual after smoking. Sometimes they smile, but they
act normal very quickly. Compared to alcohol, smoke marijuana is safer.
Drinking alcohol and driving may cause more accidents than accident
after smoking marijuana. I think marijuana should be legal just like
alcohol.
If marijuana is legal in Canada, it could help decrease crime rate.
Because marijuana is illegal, and there is a lot of demand in Canada,
sell marijuana makes huge profits. A lot of people plant and sell it.
Many gang members fight and kill others because of selling marijuana. If
marijuana were legal, the crime’s rate about marijuana would be decrease
a lot.
In my opinion, smoke marijuana should be legal. The government can set
some laws for selling it. For example, people can plant it for their own
use. People could buy it only in store, and government could collect
huge taxes just like a cigarette and alcohol. People could carry small
amounts of marijuana for their personal use. It would be very helpful,
not only good for the smokers who do not need to buy and smoke like a
thief, but also this would decrease the crime and collect a huge amount
of taxes for the government. So, I think marijuana should be legal.
