Problems in Being Overweight

Today, as you know there are a lot of people who are confronted with an overweight problem. They may be our family, our friends or ourselves. An increasing number of people are overweight. A newspaper did a research that display 72.2% adult people are overweight. I am going to talk about overweight’s harms, what people usually do, and my opinion.
 

Being overweight means that people have a body mass index that is above the 95th percentile for his or her age. Overweight can put people at risk for many medical problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. Obesity can also adversely affect their self esteem. They will influence people’s life. 

People use different ways to lose weight. 53.5% believe that eating habits is the most important part to influence their weight, so they beware their diet. 25% think that doing more exercises is an effect way. 13% believe that taking drugs will help them. Also, 5% see the doctor and 3.5% use others..

From my experience, I think that the first thing of weight management in people should be to stop weight gain and maintain normal growth in height such as control their diet. People should limit snacks to two each day and they can include low-calorie foods, such as raw fruits or vegetables. Avoid using high calorie or high fat foods for snacks, especially chips, and cookies. Also, people should drink four to six glasses of water each day, especially before meals. Water has no calories and it will help people to feel full. Other drinks can include diet sodas and low fat milk. Avoid letting people drink regular soft drinks or fruit juices, as they are high in calories (150-170 calories per serving). Second, people should do more exercise. People can exercise for 20-30 minutes 4-5 times each week. This can include walking, jogging, swimming, bike riding, rollerblading and riding a skateboard. It can also include playing a new sport, such as basketball, volleyball, tennis and soccer. People should limit television viewing to about one or two hours each day (this includes playing video games or using the computer). Watching television doesn't use up many calories and it encourages eating unhealthy foods and unhealthy habits. Last, keeping a journal is a good way to oversee self to lose weight, so people should keep a weekly journal of food and beverage intake and also of the amount of time that is spent watching television, playing videogames and exercising. People can also record their weight each week (but do not weight every day). I believe that although my opinion will take people long time, but it is a good way for people to lose weight.

Losing weight is very difficult for people because it will take people a long time and proof people’s pains. However, because overweight will influence people’s life and put people at risk for many medical problems, people need to concerned about their weight.
