People learning new
things by lots of different ways, they can learn by reading or they can
learn by doing things. For some people, learning is better either one
way or the other. I prefer to learn by doing things because when I do
something myself I feel more real than when I read it.
First, learn things by doing are more effective than reading. For
instance, I learned how to ride a bicycle and drive a car by experience.
I learned ride a bicycle when I was a child. I couldn’t read that time,
so I learned from my mistake when I fell off my bicycle. Similarly, I
learned to drive car by practice. Although I had to study a driving
manual and take a knowledge test, I could not learn driving well until I
practiced driving in a car.
Second, learn things by doing are concrete, unlike by reading is
abstract. We are taking computer course now, and I learned how to use it
by doing it. Although our instructor require each of us needs to read
the textbook, but this was difficult for us because the book was very
complex. I learned more when I sit in front of computer and tried use
several keyboard, of course, our teacher explained some thing about the
system, however, I could learn best when I experienced it.
On the other hand, it is true that people have to learn some things by
reading, such as history, philosophy, and literature. Reading gives
people lots of important knowledge, and this knowledge we can not
learned from doing it.
Both leaning things by doing and reading are good ways for people,
however, for most skill that I need for my life, I prefer to learn
through the action. These skills must be experienced for me to really
learn them.
