China's Increasing Population

China, a big country owning the third superficial measure, vast territory and abundant resource, is the most populous country in the world. Until now, China has gained almost 1.3 billion populations which is still being increasing by every second. As my point of view, there are two main factors causing the increasing population in China.

Firstly, the historical factor had been contributed to the increasing population. In the 1960’s, China’s productivity is very low and few industries can afford to use the machines to manufacture products. At that time, Zedong Mao, the chairman and the famous politician of China, announced: “the more people we have, the much power we get.” Because of Mao’s powerful saying, the population increased in a straight line at once. At that time, people tried to make their effort to have more and more babies to echo to Mao’s slogan. Therefore, from 1960 to 1965, only 5 years long, China’s population had been turned over for more than two times. From the following chart we can find that the number of 18 jumped to the number of 44 dramatically.

Secondly, people’s feudalistic ideology has also been responsible for the increasing population in China. From ancient times to the present, most Chinese are subjected to the feudalistic ideology. They usually believe that “Son is better than daughter”, “Man is more outstanding and superior than woman forever”, or “Family’s heritage can not be handed down without men.” Such feudalistic thoughts have influenced people’s ideology for thousands of years! Thanks to such an ideology, couples will not stop to have babies until they have a baby boy one day. As a result, the number of population is also increased insensibly!

As the population is increasing in an astonishing speed by every second, the Chinese government has to implement a series of harsh policies to control the population. During that time, “One Child Policy” is the most famous one. This policy required that every couple is allowed to have one child only; otherwise they will be punished severely. For instance, if the couple violates this policy, they will be fined in a large amount of money, lose their job or the benefits from the government and so on. Besides, the women were forced to have a birth restriction. Even though these policies are very harsh, they are not effective at all. Because of some people’s stubborn and feudalistic mind: they tried to hide their baby daughters in different places or go to other countries to birth their next baby crisply, the government have no idea to search a real statistic of the population. So, the population is still can not be control completely in China until now.

To sum up, in order to control the increasing population in China effectively, as a Chinese, I suggest we should use our new generation’s advanced mind to change this situation rather than to force the older generation to accommodate our minds.
