Sleeping Postures

People spend one third of their life times in sleep.  Do you know what your sleep postures are and what kind of posture is the most suitable for you?  When sleeping, people can lie in four ways: face up, face down, face right, and face left.  Each posture has its effects.  Let’s have a look on each posture.

First, lying face up is the most comment posture because peoples bodies have the most contact with their beds; therefore, they will not feel tired easily.  However, there are some people who cannot use this kind of posture.  For example, pregnant people, heart disease people, pant people, and snore people will not find this position comfortable.  When expectant mothers lying face up, the blood circulation in their lower part of bodies is not smooth, which can be dangerous for unborn babies.  People having heart disease, pant, or sore will feel uncomfortable and might not be able to breathe properly.

Second is the lying face down which is suitable for everyone except for babies who are under two years old.  Babies cannot use this way because they do not know how to turn their bodies over by themselves.  In other word, they would not be able to breathe.  However, all others will turn their bodies if they feel uncomfortable.  If babies lying face down, the risk of sudden death increases rapidly.

Next, lying face right, according to studies, this is the best sleep posture. This posture is best for people who have heart disease, myocardial infraction, or spinal cord injury.  When people lying face right, their hearts are in a higher position, which reduce hearts burdens.  Blood can easily go through peoples bodies.  In addition, the posture can also prevent heart vascular diseases.  In contrast, expectant mothers should not use this posture because unborn babies might cause obstruction of blood circulation.

Lastly, no study shows that lying face left has any special benefit for humans.  Nevertheless, pregnant people especially suit this posture.  When babies are 7 or 8 months, the burdens of females increase.  The blood circulation would not go well if they lie face up or lie on right side; therefore, they should lie on left side to speed the blood circulation.
