Vancouver and Toronto

Vancouver and Toronto are two of the largest and most well known cities in Canada.  Before I got information about Toronto from my friend who is studying there, I would have thought they were similar to each other.  Yet, they are very different in three main criteria.

Differences Between Two Cities

Vancouver

Toronto

Scenery

Nature

Industry

Environment

Tourism

Manufacturing

Location

Western edge of Canada

In the middle of Canada

Firstly, Vancouver differs from Toronto in scenery. Vancouver seems more like a large village placed into nature’s green carpet.   However, Toronto is an industrial city that is connected to many large industrial cities.  Vancouver is abundant in mountains, trees, and streams; however, Toronto has warehouses, high-rises, and open fields.

Secondly, the environment of their major industries is different.  As we know, Vancouver is a well-known city because of its environment and scenery.  Thus, tourism is a major channel for Vancouver to make income.  Also, Vancouver has a very famous scenic spot, Whistler, which is one of the best ski resorts in the world.  At the same place, it is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  On the other hand, Toronto is the top manufacturing location in the nation.  It also has a very population city because of many industries and a large population in Toronto.  In addition, people can easily have job opportunities in Toronto.

Finally, the location is the important factor that makes each of them very unique and different.  Vancouver is on the western edge of Canada.  It is a port city to other countries such as China, Japan, and Russia.  As a result, most of immigrants, as well as, visitors come from Asia.  So Vancouver has a great multicultural appeal and a steady tourism industry.  Toronto, however, is in the middle of Canada.  This means it is connected to many large industrial cities in the US.  Therefore, Toronto not only helps satisfy the need of human resources for manufacturing, but is also in a good location where large volumes of trade for all kinds of goods occurs.

In my opinion, if you have a chance to travel in Canada, I suggest that you should go to both of Vancouver and Toronto in order to see the differences yourself.  I hope you can have a good time and see what I mentioned above.
