A western proverb says: Bread is the staff of life. By now, with
living standard is getting higher and higher, food is not just a
basic need of people, on the other hand, it has become an artistic
and living enjoyment. Today, food is a constant source of
conversation, talked about everywhere, on the Metro, in shops,
in the office, and at the school gate. Mealtimes are
sacrosanct --- why do you think it is that at one o'clock,
the traffic suddenly becomes much lighter? Food gives us
more and more nourishment, is good for our health, but
brings us the senses of enjoyment as well.
But when we're talking about what's hot about food, I think
different people have different views ' cause every region
has its own specialties, which reflect the local products
and traditions.
French people usually say: The joys of table are everything
to the French and fundamental to their way of life. Exactly,
in France, family meals are an occasion. An everyday event
becomes a celebration of one of life's most basic pleasures
and special occasions, birthdays and holidays are lavishly
enjoyed with food and wine. In addition, with regard to
lovers, in their hearts, a romantic French dinner with candle
is the favorite like the Lord's supper of Christian. I think
the French style of serving a meal differs from many other
countries and for foreigners part of the enjoyment of French
food is in eating "the French way " --- in separate courses.
France is always primarily an agricultural economy and fresh
seasonal ingredients are widely available; Therefore, the
French pride themselves on cooking with the freshest and
best ingredients, such as eggs, top quality meat, poultry,
fresh fish, shellfish, fine cheeses and so on. Sauces are
perhaps the best known elements of French cuisine. A good
sauce should enhance food and not disguise it and some
thought must be given, as well, to balancing the courses.
For the French, wine is an integral part of the meal. Just
as a sauce is designed to complement the meat or vegetable
it accompanies; thereby, the wines are chosen to complement
the whole meal. Many of the world's great wines come from
France. In the French restaurant, in front of candle, with
the moving music, the lover's gaze facing each other,
handing French wine, it is extremely romantic. By now,
more and more people want to select the French restaurant
to have a perfect and romantic night. So what's hot about
food, for romantic people, of course, the French food is
the best choice. Not only the French food is fine, good and
beautiful, but also the mealtime is held in a romantic and
friendly atmosphere.
If French food stresses on selecting ingredients, Japanese
food attaches importance to the process of cooking and the
high quality of serves. Because Japanese natural resources
are not rich, for Japanese food, Japanese pay attention to
do the condiment, use the little ingredients and serves. As
we know Japanese food, such as sushi, sashimi, and tempera,
are very famous, but you know, the ingredients are very simple,
just made by salmon, rice, and vegetable. Only these ingredients
can be fashionable in all over the world. I have ever asked some
foreigner whether they like Japanese food or not. They mostly
said:" Of course, I like it. It is very light and interesting.
" I think this is a outstanding characteristic. Today, there is
more and more high cholesterol, but Japanese food is very
light, it usually can be eaten raw and is not greasy. It is
very good for people's health. So more and more people who
lay stress on themselves health and nutrition select Japanese
food. Furthermore, Japanese people are proud of their
services. They really look upon every customer as their
god and give customers to the best service as possible as
they can. As a customer, you will be very pleased and satisfied.
Chinese food is a well-known food. For Chinese or Asian people,
it is very popular and traditional; for western people, it is
very strange and interesting. Compared to French food and Japanese
food, Chinese food has a special characteristic -- selecting
ingredients and the process of cooking. It is very stringent
to select ingredients, especially some food of the imperial
household. The cook usually choose some kind of rare ingredients
such as the brain of little monkey, bear's paw, edible bird's
nest or shark's fin etc. Or they want some essence like duck's
tongue the tender part of horse or vegetable. On the process of
cooking, Chinese food is very exhalent. There are many different
tricks of cooking such as fry, stir--fried, boil and deep--fry;
different tricks can make different taste. In China, different
districts have different food style. For example Cantonese like
sweet and sour food; people of Sichuan province's favorite is
spice and hot; Shanxi people who live in northwest are good at
wheaten food and so on. With more and more Chinese food restaurants
are opening in all the world, Chinese food is very hot and welcome,
more and more people know it, accept it and like it.
