Choosing a Place to Live

For the international students, there are a lot of living choices on abroad. I'm going to talk about the three common ways for the international students to living in Vancouver which are living in the home-stay, living in the landlord's house, and living in the apartment. Every way of living has its advantage and disadvantage.

Living in the home-stay can be divided into living in the local people's home and living in the relatives' home. Living in local people's house is very helpful to the English studying and also is a good way to know about the culture. But most international students, especially the Asian students, can't get used to the food. The sandwich and the pasta will drive them crazy. Also, lots of rules will make the students feel not free. The students who live in the relatives' home may get the better taking care. But it's not good to learn the language.

Living in landlord's house include two choices, one is renting a suite, usually the basement. The other is only rent the bedroom. The basement has its own bathroom and kitchen. It is freer; however, living in the basemen is not good to the health. Only renting the bedroom is cheaper than renting the basement, but it needed to share bathroom and kitchen with the landlords or other people.

Living in the apartment includes living in the apartment building and living in the highlight building. The apartment building usually owned by a person or a family. The conditions are very good: neat, clean, comfortable, etc. The disadvantage is that it's not very safe, because the door is easy to break-into. Living in the highlight building is very safety because the building has the safeguard and the security system. Of course, the view is very beautiful and the air is very fresh. Living in the highlight building is a deluxe way. So the renting expenses are almost twice than living in basement.

There are a lot of choices of living in Vancouver. It's very important to learn how to be independent and how to enjoy the living. Because taking good care of yourself is you job.
