The Moon

My topic is about the moon. The moon has been described by song writers and poets as a romantic place. Unlike that, I will tell the fact about the moon according to scientist reports. I hope you enjoy it.

The moon doesn't have any water. Most people know the fact, but some people don't really know why. That is because the force of gravity on the moon is very little. The force is too weak to keep water onto the surface of the moon.

There is also no air on the moon because its gravity is insufficient to retain an atmosphere. No atmosphere also means no weather -- no wind, no rain, no clouds.

Temperatures on the moon are quite extreme, ranging from 110 degrees to -173 degrees. This occurs because there is no atmosphere to filter the sun's rays when it is shining and then to blanket in warm air when the sun goes down. So it is hot when the sun is shining and it is cold when the sun goes down.

The moon revolves around the earth once every twenty nine and a half days. Also, the moon itself rotates.

In summary, the moon, because of no water, no air and extreme temperatures, is a very hostile environment for human beings.
