Dawei (David)Song |
My experiences at BCIT have been really challenging and rewarding.
I (David Song) am delighted that I chose the Business Management Study
(BMS) program as my beginning at BCIT. The Associate Certificate Program
is designed to provide second language students with general business
skills during eight months. Graduates of this program can apply for transfer
of credit into BCIT diploma programs, and immediately put new skills to
work in business.
My study at BCIT is challenging and beneficial. In terms of schedules,
BCIT is more rigid. We are normally assigned to "sets" or "blocks" groups
of students all studying the same courses together. The in-class workload
is heavy, about 25 to 30 hours per week. The training I receive here will
prepare me for my plan for the future. I am taking the steps to further my
education and to gain valuable knowledge.
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a premier institute
with a mission to prepare job-ready graduates. Education at BCIT focuses
on practical, "job-oriented" skills. BCIT's primary purpose is to train
students for the job market and to work with business to solve technical
and technological problems. It offers full and part-time training and
advanced education in eight program areas.
It is very important to participate actively and learn the value of teamwork
at BCIT. Just in all courses at BCIT, we always study in small groups. This
will allow us to develop the interpersonal skills we need to succeed at
BCIT. We also learn more in groups because we support each other. These
all help us to develop our teamwork and leadership abilities.
Whether you are preparing to enter the work force or advancing in an
existing career, BCIT and hard work will give you the skills to succeed.
People at BCIT try to make our learning experience as positive as
possible. Many support mechanisms are available to us at BCIT. Its many
programs are instrumental in preparing students for changing job market
and an increasing global economy.
I am confident my determination, energy and enthusiasm will bring me
success and personal satisfaction at BCIT. I hope that BCIT becomes
your lifetime educational partner whether your goal is a certificate,
diploma, degree or future "just in time" training at your workplace.
By coming to BCIT, you have started on a career path that should
lead to success in the world of work.
