In Canada

When I was in my country, I dreamed about going to foreign countries, studying English, experiencing the different lifestyle, and opening my mind. The world is bigger than you can imagine. When you go through this path alone, no wonder how surprised you are. Now I am making my dream come true, but not everything is perfect because something changes some of my imagination. Actually, my life in Canada can be categorized into three parts; friend, education and life in Canada. I would like to utilize this opportunity to summarize and reorganize my time in Canada what have I learned so far? Sometimes I panic and feel as if I'm wasting my time?

Most international students will get upset or homesick easily or feel helpless without any reason. In the group of international students, could make friends easier than in your countries. The reason is everyone wants to have friends to share their feeling and also are interested in the people who are from a different country. Building a relationship with your friend, who is from the other country, also is like taking a course. You may earn the culture or character of another nationality that your friend is. This is a sort of big society class around you, through your friends you may know what attitude is good to face the people whose nationality is as your friends. By the other way, maybe you will feel a little bit disappointed because the culture gaps or discrimination; however, for me that also is a kind of education.

Most of my friends said the education in Canada might be not good enough for international students. First the school may not care about students, and also we confuse about why the tuition of international students is three times more than for national students? That could be a government policy, but everyone knows what we get is far away out of proportion to what we pay! Sometimes international students must pretend they are Canadian when they are without any help or attention, yet sometimes they should turn back into international students when they must pay their tuition.

I like the style of class, the instructor leads us to discuss some question and also inspires us to think broadly. That is good way to train you think individually and work alone. We can see most of Canadian has his/her own thought. In comparison to Asia, North America people have more self-confident, that could be from the different style of class.

My life in Canada can not be without education and friends. From friends I can learn about interpersonal relationship, how to communicate with different nationalities people and from school I learn about language. I have been here approximate one year I don't think I wasted my time.
